The 10th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IPEMC 2024-ECCE Asia) Successfully Held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province

Approved by the China Association for Science and Technology, the 10th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IPEMC 2024-ECCE Asia) was grandly held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, from May 17 to 20, 2024. The conference attracted 1,300 experts and scholars from 27 countries and regions. This year's conference was organized by the China Electrotechnical Society, co-sponsored by the IEEE Power Electronics Society (IEEE PELS), Journal of Industry Applications by the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan (IEEJ), and the Korean Institute of Power Electronics, and hosted by Southwest Jiaotong University. Attendees included Vice President of the China Electrotechnical Society Dianguo Xu, Secretary-General Yi Han, and Deputy Secretary-Generals Zhihua Wang and Zhuo Yan.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Conference Chair Professor Frede Blaabjerg from Aalborg University, Denmark, and Professor Xiaoqiong He from Southwest Jiaotong University. Addresses were delivered individually by Vice President Dianguo Xu of the China Electrotechnical Society, Chairman Brad Lehman of the IEEE Power Electronics Society, Chairman Hitoshi Hayashiya of the IEEJ Journal of Industry Applications, Chairman Se Kyo Chung of the Korean Institute of Power Electronics, and Party Secretary Minming Yu of Southwest Jiaotong University.

 

 

Distinguished keynote speakers included Academician Rongjun Ding from CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co., Ltd. , Professor Dushan Boroyevich from Virginia Tech, Academician Sheng Liu from Wuhan University, Professor Jose Rodriguez from Universidad San Sebastián in Chile, Professor Makoto Takamiya from the University of Tokyo, Professor Jung-Ik Ha from Seoul National University, Professor Shibin Gao from Southwest Jiaotong University, Professor Shuo Wang from the University of Florida, Professor Johann Walter Kolar from ETH Zurich, and Professor Issa Batarseh from the University of Central Florida. They shared their academic and engineering achievements with the attending experts and scholars. The sessions were chaired correspondingly by Professor Liuchen Zhang from the University of New Brunswick, Professor Dehong Xu from Zhejiang University, Professor Yongdong Li from Tsinghua University, Professor Jinjun Liu from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Xinbo Ruan from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Professor Yunwei Li from the University of Alberta.

 

 

 

This conference received 1,249 submissions from 27 countries and regions. After rigorous peer reviews by over 600 experts, 902 full papers were accepted. The conference included 56 paper presentations, 2 poster sessions, and over 20 industrial exhibitions, with 335 authors giving presentations and 567 papers presented as posters.

 

 

The conference featured 16 pre-conference technical sessions, where 47 experts and scholars gave presentations on topics such as modeling and control of grid-connected converters for distributed energy, design and control of advanced motors, high-power converters, modeling and control of wireless power transmission, and SiC MOSFET gate drivers. An industrial forum on power semiconductor devices, led by Infineon Technologies China Co., Ltd., invited 8 experts to discuss advanced technologies such as the reliability of double-sided bidirectional power modules, design and optimization of multi-chip power modules, and SiC power device packaging and integration technology.

 

The conference awarded 8 Best Papers, 8 Best Posters, and 10 Best Special Session Organizers. At the closing ceremony, Professor Frede Blaabjerg from Aalborg University and Professor Xiaoqiong He from Southwest Jiaotong University presented certificates to the awardees. Professor Kaushik Basu from the Indian Institute of Technology, representing the organizing committee of ECCE Asia 2025, introduced the preparations for the next conference.
